Breathefree app is an attempt by Cipla to popularise effective digital therapy amongst consumers who suffer from lifestyle lung diseases like Asthma, COPD etc. and require continuous management and care.
Problem Statement
While the Indian consumer has taken to telemedicine to a large extent, penetration of digital therapeutics in India is only 0.5% as of Oct 2023. This industry is largely untapped. With Breathefree, Cipla is entering into unknown waters with a trial and error approach. They required a team that could help them with constant product ideation and development.
The Breathefree team was able to leverage Cipla’s existing user base for customer acquisition but these users were not engaging with the app daily. Habit formation is essential for any form of therapy to be successful.

To address the need for enhanced user guidance beyond the confines of a doctor’s clinic in managing their condition, our product strategy adopts a hands-on approach.
Users come to the app with specific health goals, whether it's managing symptoms, tracking progress, or improving overall lung health. Our approach ensures they receive a structured, step-by-step plan tailored to their needs, guiding them seamlessly through personalized recommendations, progress tracking, and expert insights to help them stay on course and achieve their health objectives effectively.

Daily Task & Meal Logging
Daily tasks leverage habit stacking to seamlessly integrate new routines. Premium users can consult clinical nutritionists and log meals to track adherence and nutrition.
Aligned with the user’s chosen goals, we assign simple daily tasks with strategically timed reminders—morning (post-breakfast) or evening (pre-dinner)—to seamlessly integrate with their existing routines. This approach reinforces consistency and helps users build sustainable health habits effortlessly.
Our meal tracking flow is designed for ease, featuring a streamlined two-step logging process, intuitive quantity selection, and timely, insightful feedback. By simplifying tracking, we ensure users stay engaged and make informed nutritional choices throughout their journey.


Progress Tracker & Ad Space
Progress Tracker & Ad Space
The progress section visualizes user improvement through engaging, easy-to-understand graphs, making data approachable. To balance user experience with monetization, we introduced targeted ad spaces for relevant cross-selling, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience.
We introduced an overall adherence score to motivate users to stay consistent with their daily tasks, rewarding them for regular engagement. This dynamic metric not only tracks progress but also transforms routine tasks into engaging challenges, empowering users to take charge of their lung health journey.
Additionally, we integrated targeted advertisements into the user flow. Sub-task ads are designed to align with ongoing activities, while device purchase ads appear as users record key health parameters. This seamless integration ensures each ad feels like a natural extension of their care routine, enhancing user experience while opening new avenues for monetization.
